At National Windscreens, we are proud to support #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek by sharing the activities that contribute towards our health, fitness and mobility. According to research by the Mental Health Foundation, 36% of UK adults struggle to find the time for regular physical activity. This week, we would like to share some of the benefits that movement brings to our lives and promote the message of ‘moving more for our mental health’.
Finding ‘moments for movement’ will help to embrace the challenge of breaking the sedentary pattern of modern life. Moving can increase your energy, reduce stress and anxiety, and boost your self-esteem.
Craig Gibson, ESG manager, comments: “With so much time spent sitting at our desks or scrolling on social media; it is important to break the monotony of being stationary. This can be achieved by dancing in your kitchen, walking the dog, swimming or competing in a marathon.
“Personally, I schedule regular breaks to stand up, walk around and stretch during my work hours. My hobby of competing in triathlon keeps me physically active and engaged with the outdoors. Running is my favourite of the three sports, as it is the easiest to fit into the day, and you can run anywhere. This has significant benefits for my mental health and connects me with my surroundings,” said Craig.
