Ongoing training and accreditations are imperative when it comes to ensuring National Windscreens is at the leading edge in windscreen replacement and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration.
Having already invested more than £2 million in equipment and training in ADAS calibration at its 108 UK centres, ensuring just one visit for windscreen replacement and calibration, National Windscreens continues its backing by supporting fourteen more technicians as they qualify to national ADAS calibration industry standards at fitting centres in Scotland and Cumbria.
Rob Roberts, one of the regional training managers at National Windscreens, carrying out ADAS calibration.
“With significant growth in the rollout of ADAS technology, there are more and more vehicles on the road each day that will require windscreen fitting and ADAS calibration,” said Andy Rae, regional operations director at National Windscreens.
“Our growing network of fitting and calibration centres throughout the UK already has trained and qualified technicians, however, constant investment is of utmost important to us, so we were delighted to support 14 more technicians, especially at a time where we’re expanding in the Scottish region.”
National Windscreens has worked with training and accreditation providers to ensure the windscreen fitting industry and those working within it can keep pace with technological advancements.
“More and more mainstream vehicles are equipped with ADAS. By 2020, it is predicted that more than 40% of new vehicles will have at least two types of driver assisted systems fitted. That means more vehicles will need professional ADAS calibration. To achieve that we have to have the best technicians and that’s why we are continually investing in technician training and ADAS accreditations.”
National Windscreens has more than 800 mobile technicians, ensuring a motorist is on average never more than 20 minutes or 11 miles away. In addition to the investment in fitting and ADAS calibration training and equipment, the company has also invested in a unique windscreen selection system that makes sure the right glass is selected first time for a vehicle in 99.5% of cases.
