National Windscreens has unveiled a new fitting and calibration centre in Northampton as part of its ongoing investment into its national network.
The new centre on the Brackmills Industrial Estate has been fitted out with the latest windscreen repair, fitting and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration equipment.
It forms part of National Windscreens UK network of 108 fitting and calibration centres, meaning that, on average, a UK motorist is never more than 20 minutes or 11 miles away from a technician.
Mark Payne, regional director, said: “The new fitting and calibration centre replaces our long established site in the town, providing easier access and larger workshop areas that ensure we can further improve our service capability in this area.
“Our team of professional technicians based at the centre are qualified in glass repair, replacement, and calibration of ADAS cameras. This means that should a windscreen replacement be needed, calibration of the windscreen mounted camera, which forms a critical part of the ADAS system, can be undertaken during the same visit to the fitting centre. This calibration is needed to ensure the ADAS safety features on the vehicle will continue to work as intended.
“It is predicted that by 2020, 40% of all vehicles will have at least two ADAS features fitted as standard. The majority of vehicle manufacturers have stated that calibration work is best carried out in workshop conditions and our new centre at Northampton will provide such a facility as part of our network of 108 centres throughout the UK.”
National Windscreens has invested over £2 million pounds in ADAS technology nationally.
The new centre is located at Unit 8, Caswell Road, Brackmills Industrial Estate, Northampton, NN4 7PW. Stuart Holmes is the centre manager.
