A new National Windscreens fitting and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) calibration centre in Inverness has been unveiled as the latest development in the company’s UK network of 108 locations. Relocating to this purpose-built facility is part of a nationwide initiative to ensure that motorists can always drive away safely after just one visit to a National Windscreens centre.
The vast majority of car manufacturers state that ADAS camera calibration should be undertaken in workshop conditions and National Windscreens now claims a market-leading position with its UK-wide network meaning that, on average, a motorist will never be more than 20 minutes or 11 miles away from a technician.
This new fitting and calibration centre is the latest phase of the company’s major development programme undertaken in response to the massively growing demand for ADAS camera calibration. £1million has already been invested in equipment and training throughout its UK-wide network to ensure that motorists can have their windscreen replaced and calibration work carried out at the same time and place.
Andy Rae, regional director for National Windscreens, explains: “It is widely anticipated that by 2020, more than 40% of new vehicles will have at least two types of driver assistance system such as lane departure warning , autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and adaptive cruise control, as standard.
“The increasing number of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that use windscreen mounted cameras means that camera calibration, following glass replacement or accident damage, is absolutely necessary to ensure these safety features continue to work as intended.
“This new facility is our direct response to the massively growing demand for camera calibration. It allows us to locate our specialist workshop calibration equipment immediately alongside our glass repair and replacement operations – all under one roof for a seamless service for our customers in all weathers. Easy access and plenty of parking space means we are ideally positioned to deliver outstanding service as demand for camera calibration increases over the coming years.
“Safety is of paramount importance to us and the fact motorists can have their windscreens replaced and calibration work carried out in a single visit to any one of our fully equipped ADAS calibration centres will give them peace of mind that their vehicle’s safety features will continue to protect them on the road,” concludes Andy.
