National Windscreens continues to grow its market-leading fitting and calibration service with two new appointments within the company’s latest Vocational Qualification Centre.
Paul Henshaw, regional quality safety and training manager, has attained a GQA Level 4 Award in Internal Quality Assurance, while John Tyler, previously Hoddesdon branch manager, has taken up a new full-time role as NVQ assessor.
Pete Marsden, managing director at National Windscreens, explains: “Over the last decade, the number of repairs or replacements completed by the company has grown by an incredible 444% and we have launched a major recruitment campaign across the UK for technicians and engineers to help fuel even more growth in the future.
“This recruitment drive means we are now training more technicians than ever before. National Windscreens energetically promotes the Level 2 and Level 3 NVQ awards in Automotive Glazing, working closely with the awards body, GQA Qualifications, to ensure every technician attains the best possible skills in fitting and repairing windscreens.
“Over the past two years these training demands have significantly increased with the introduction of new Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) qualifications.
“ADAS is predicted to be fitted as standard in 40% of all vehicles by 2020 and we are already seeing an increasing demand for our calibration services. Many ADAS work through cameras mounted on windscreens so, if a replacement is needed, calibration often has to be carried out to ensure these features continue to work as intended.
“We very much welcome these new ADAS qualifications and see them as key to the future success of National Windscreens because they give our customers an assurance of competence.”
Paul Henshaw adds: “I am delighted to have achieved this qualification and I am looking forward to working with Maddie, John and the rest of the qualifications team as well as supporting the training team within the training centre.
“ADAS will continue to place increased demands on National Windscreens as new technologies are constantly being developed and we are well placed to meet the training needs that result from this.
“More than ever, we need to ensure all of the company’s technicians receive the best possible training, in order to provide a market-leading service and to ensure the company’s growing numbers of employees are fully supported to achieve rewarding careers with National Windscreens,” he comments.
Maddie Shale, co-ordinator at the Vocational Qualification Centre, added: “With 62 years’ experience in the automotive glazing industry between them, Paul and John will be a welcome addition to the existing assessing team within National Windscreens.”
