Automotive Glass Europe®, the European network of automotive glass replacement and repair companies, has announced a seamless service across 20 European countries for recalibration of windscreen-mounted cameras used in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
National Windscreens is the UK Partner for Automotive Glass Europe®, providing one-stop windscreen replacement and ADAS camera recalibration through its 108 fitting and calibration centres supported by over 800 mobile technicians.
ADAS camera recalibration is required following a windscreen replacement to ensure the vehicle safety systems continue to work as intended. This service from Automotive Glass Europe® ensures that recalibration can be undertaken immediately following windscreen replacement and according to the vehicle manufacturers’ requirements.
Representatives from all member countries included in the Automotive Glass Europe® network attended the launch of this initiative earlier this year.
“Automotive Glass Europe® has taken a leading role in making sure the European aftermarket is well positioned to service this burgeoning demand for ADAS recalibration. Our ‘ADAS Recalibration 2018’ conference forms part of a programme designed to continually raise standards and capability for ADAS recalibration throughout our European network,” said Pim de Ridder, managing director, Automotive Glass Europe®.
The conference was hosted by Hella Guttman with best practice presentations on ADAS recalibration by Automotive Glass Europe® partners sharing experiences from throughout Europe. In turn, Hella Guttman demonstrated its latest ADAS diagnostic and calibration equipment together with some exciting new technologies under development.
“To support this initiative we have created a new educational area for ADAS on our website; launched our YouTube channel with two instructional ADAS videos for multilingual use; and introduced an online forum to discuss and promote best practice amongst the specialists throughout our network,” said Mr De Ridder.
Mr De Ridder concludes: “We believe it is not acceptable to replace a windscreen without undertaking camera recalibration at the same time. One-stop service is our aim.
“Our recalibration equipment is always situated as close as possible to the windscreen replacement location. This enables the car driver to drive away after only one visit, providing them with maximum convenience and the knowledge that their vehicle safety systems are working as intended.”
Euro NCAP safety ratings demand ever-safer cars and increased use of camera-reliant safety technology within ADAS. With windscreen mounted ADAS camera technology now featuring on mainstream vehicles, the demand for camera recalibration is set to continue growing for the foreseeable future.
